Objectives

General Objective:

The main objective of the project Knowledge transfer to Improve Marine Economy in Regions from the Atlantic Area (KIMERAA) is to develop economic niches of excellence through the creation of strong linkages between firms and science organisations, focusing the marine sciences and maritime activities and contributing to the progress of Atlantic regional economies. To achieve this goal, it is necessary to facilitate channels for knowledge transfer across the Atlantic Area regions, linking the different institutional actors that can support the development of the Marine Economy.

Operational Objectives:

  1. Identify the main centres of R&D linked to marine sciences in the KIMERAA regions.
  2. Detect spin-outs, supported by intermediation actors in the KIMERAA regions working in the marine economy activities.
  3. Create an internet platform where the R&D centres and the firms can match their interests in the Atlantic Area. This platform will work as a matching tool for these organisations where they can offer and seek information that will improve the marine economy scientific and technical knowledge diffusion and provide additional ways of trans-regional cooperation.
  4. Benchmarking best-practices in Marine research, in commercialisation of marine scientific knowledge among partners and in support to knowledge transfer.
  5. Create opportunities of contact among traditional sectors and innovations in marine fields by dissemination mechanisms.
  6. Increase the competitiveness of the Marine Economy by detecting new innovative project spin-outs, launch scientific partnerships and foster the modernisation/internationalisation of existing firms.
  7. Consolidate a network with private and public bodies in the Marine Sector.
